Hi there, my name is Byron Raal and I am the person behind geekgeargalore.com. I am an Australian guy who has been playing board games passionately for over 18 years.
When I was 13 years old I was casually introduced to Catan by a school mate of mine. Before this my only experience of board games were classics like chess and monopoly. Catan absolutely blew my mind and hooked me into the wonderful world of board games and, I guess, nerd culture in general.
I have been playing board games ever since.
I am now in my early thirties and am still just as passionate about board games as I was back in my younger days. I am a father now, so while my free time is limited – I still manage to host a fortnightly board game night where my wife, my friends and I all get together, have a few beers and play games all night.
It’s not just board games I am into either. I love all geeky things (huge Star Wars fan)! I have a huge collection of miniatures I like to paint (when I get the chance), a huge collection of Funko Pop toys, action figures…. and more Lego than I like to admit!
I created this website as a place where I can nerd out and write articles about all the things I love – Board games, card games, RPG’s collectibles and anything else I find cool or interesting.
I love trying out all sorts of new games, attending cons and collecting figures and this website is a way for me to share this knowledge with you.

All the content you will find on this site is edited by me to ensure we meet the highest quality standards.
I can’t play all games reviewed in our articles (there is only one of me) but fortunately I can rely on some gamer friends of mine to provide their experiences, insight and opinions on games I have not played. While my friends help me put articles together – nothing is put online without a green light from me, the chief editor. This is to ensure all information we publish is accurate and you can trust it and make informed purchasing decisions.
As much as possible we try to get our hands on the games or items referenced in this blog to get real-life experience with them but this is not always possible. In this case we rely on extensive online feedback from real customers of these items and research them thoroughly.
